Nowhere to Run to, Baby

We're "blizzarded" in. Again.

The snow is still coming down, pelting my dreams of escape. We may get more than two feet of snow here in my area of Virginia.

This does not bode well for my sanity, which I am holding onto by a slender thread.

The children have tired of scattering every. single. toy. they own all over the downstairs, and have moved on to Play-Doh and Elmo. Anything, anything to keep them from asking me to take them out into the frozen tundra of a backyard!

On my personal Facebook account, I pondered going out in the snow and just walking until I collapse. Then the firemen two blocks over would find me and take me to the hospital, where I could sit and watch what I want to watch on TV, read a book, order "room service" and generally not talk to anyone who currently lives in this house with me.

I'm still thinking.

As for T, he's still upstairs recuperating. Thanks to all of you who inquired as to his recovery from the minor surgery on Wednesday. I really can't say anything else about that now, but I will leave you with this video, which I've linked to before. It pretty much sums it all up. I just want two weeks to be over and for him to be well.

  1. Oh, poor, poor bunny Amanda!! That was hilarious by the way....and I DO feel for you being trapped inside with two toddlers and a man with a bo-bo.......I would send in reinforcements if I thought they could get there....poor, poor Amanda.....you really should bake some brownies and have a cappucino.....:D

Take care, and stay warm, and put on a kid movie!

  2. Oh my I do feel for you! Been there and done that. Currently my husband has the Man Cold and I am exhausted. I have poured orange juice, coffee, fetched pills, kleenex, etc. I almost feel like I am going to have to "precut" the food next! yikes...If you decide to runaway take me with you.

  3. Snow seems to be a big theme today!

Maybe get the kids to play a game of hide-n-seek... and maybe um, take your time finding them? *evil laugh*

  4. That video is hysterical and typical! I had similar thoughts of hitting a tree with my car and pretneding to be unconcsious to get to go to the hospital when everyone but me got the flu earlier in the fall. Four sick kids and a sick husband - NOT FUN!

I know you are so sick of snow, but I have to say that I am jealous. No snow all winter here - just dumb ole ice! UGH!

Just remember, this to shall pass. I agree with Suzanne - brownies and cappucino make everything better!!!

  5. Ahhh...the Northern mama...I remember those days! Fortunately, my older two could go out on their own and the youngest was too young to care...then we moved south! Here's to hoping it goes away very quickly.

  6. So typical and yet so funny!
You really need a warm retreat.
My remedy is bake a sunny, tropical dessert. Then go to a room in your home and crank the heat up to 90. Put on your swimsuit, sunglasses and calypso music. Don't forget your beach towel, fan and sunglasses. Now you have your tropical retreat and dessert to enjoy alone. Don't forget to lock the door. :)
Sorry, it's the best I could come up with. You can send the snow my way if you like :)

  7. Honey.

Bless your heart. I was so happy to see this post because I'd wondered about you--and now I know that you have ELECTRICITY! I am so glad--I kept seeing news reports about Virginia and hearing that there were thousands of people without power. Thank God you escaped that!

You can do it. You can hang on. You are strong. And you will still be sane at the end. Because you have a sense of humor! You can handle anything if you retain your ability to laugh. Once you dig out of the snow, though, you wanna come to North Carolina for a visit? I make a mean margarita!

  8. Sometimes I wished it snowed in CA more... Then I read posts like this and think twice. Just babysitting kids in the RAIN was bad enough, let alone actually being glued inside by snow. Hope you have some hair left when it melts a bit. :)

  10. Wow! That is a lot of snow!!! We've had barely any snow in Milwaukee! and I miss it... I am stuck inside anyway (my baby girl has had a cold most of the winter) and now I have a cold too so it could at least snow to look out the window and see everything white... -sigh-

  11. Double yuck! Looks like a doosy over there and as cliche as it is, I know how you feel! We're facing down another snow storm in Oklahoma and I'm tellin ya....and nice comfy spot at a hospital does sound nice compared!

  13. That video really made me laugh! Two weeks is an awfully long time to have a man at home. Your nerves are going to be shot by the time this is over.

I hope that you can get out today. The streets here melted pretty quickly in the pm. They are probably a sheet of ice now.

    Hang in there!

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
