Christmas Nerd

I have a confession. I am a total Christmas nerd.

In A Christmas Story, the narrator (Ralphie as an adult) says that "the entire kid year" revolves around Christmas, but I could say the same for myself. The lights, the presents, the treats...I'm a sucker for it all.

I think I got less sleep on Christmas Eve than my own kids did! The anticipation of seeing the girls open their gifts had me too worked up to get much shut-eye. T and I stayed up late on Christmas Eve to watch A Christmas Story, but not until after our families went home when our annual Christmas Eve dessert party was over.

Not as many people were able to make it this year, but it was really nice to enjoy some treats together as a family. Natalie *graced* us with her musical stylings on a keyboard that her Uncle Mike was kind enough to give her on her birthday. I think I hate him a little bit now.

The girls were so wound up that I dragged them up the stairs for bed, thinking it was late enough that they might be hard to get out of bed the next morning.

...Not so.

We had an easy breakfast of cinnamon rolls and a mocha for me...simple and delicious!

I don't think we were the only ones who were sad when all the gifts had been unwrapped....

But Christmas wasn't over yet. We made the obligatory trips to my mom's and T's parents' homes, all of whom live in town. It makes for a very long day, but the girls love spending Christmas with everyone. Being the Christmas nerd that I am, I really do like celebrating with both families in their own styles (because you know families all do things differently).

T's parents had a cozy Christmas waiting for us.

Things at my mom's were much quieter...less people, cavernous house. Good chili and cornbread....

The girls ended the day by watching Toy Story 3 with their cousin Rowan, who was like a tiny TV addict.

We topped the excitement off by running out of gas in my mom's driveway, which is on an incline. And it was snowing. Yaaaay.

But not even that could spoil the day for this Christmas nerd.

Santa was very good to us this in, I got several things on my list. I'll fill you in later...

After I come down from my Christmas high.

{Did you have a wonderful Christmas?}

  2. Yay! Looks like everyone had a fabulous time! Our Christmas was full of all kinds of excitement! :-) I'll be posting this week hopefully soon once I snap out of my sugar coma from to many cookies.

  3. Looks like a fun time. Running out of gas in the driveway is my kind of luck! lol

  4. glad you had a fun day! looks like the girls loved their presents-we had an our generation doll under our tree too! bummer about running out of gas-i never remember to check my gas gauge! hope it was an easy fix!

  5. Wow, you did have a busy day! You had a lot of presents under your tree! Can you believe we had to go in and wake Indy up at 8am? Something is wrong with my boy. ;)
I always think the tree looks sad after all the presents have been unwrapped. :( James Bond suggested I wrap up a few empty boxes to make it look happy again.

  6. great pictures - love the Christmas PJs and matching bows your girls have. We had cinnamon rolls Christmas morning too

  7. Sounds like a fabulous day! We had a good holiday, too. :)

  8. Oh, it looks like you had a marvelous Christmas! You are lucky that your family is so close together so that you can easily visit everyone.

Tell me about MB's horse. I would have wanted that when I was a kid!

  9. It makes me smile to think of your day, Amanda! I love the photos. I'm a Christmas nerd too and always feel a let-down when it is all over.

  10. Looks like you had a fabulous Christmas! Only 363 days left...

  11. Oh my gracious, please tell me you stopped to do the girls hair and put in their cute bows before you took that picture and they didn't just get up looking so adorable!! Love those bows and jammies! PRECIOUS!

Looks like y'all had a great time with your families too! And such sweet pictures of the girls with Baby Rowan.

  12. A Christmas nerd! Aha! No wonder I like you so much!!

So glad you had a happy Christmas. Your photos are delightful. Natalie and MB look like very content little women!

  13. Aw, it looked like so much fun! Having little kids around always makes it even more fun and entertaining, too! Thanks for sharing.

  14. You cracked me up with the comment on the piano. My best friend got BBC drums at the start of the school year. I can feel your pain (and bleeding ears).

Love all the pictures. All those stockings were amazing! Glad you had a fab Christmas and you know I'm a little green. Haha

  15. awww... looks like a wonderful day! Looks like your girls were happy with their new goodies. Our Christmas was pretty grand, too.

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
