McKenna Layne Designs Giveaway!

One of the things that's been on my mind lately is the holidays: specifically planning and preparing for them. I still enjoy sending Christmas cards each year; but as a busy mom, I don't have time to write up yearly newsletters, much less hand-make cards like some of my more industrious friends.

So I was very pleased to hear that Melissa from McKenna Layne Designs wanted to start up as a Sponsor here at Serenity Now, and she is generous enough to offer a gift certificate Giveaway as well!

Between Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, there are all sorts of invitations, thank yous, gifts, and cards to be sent out...Melissa has you covered with affordable and stylish designs. The best part is, most invites and cards can also be sent to you digitally if you prefer to print your own pieces!

Melissa got her start in digital scrapbooking, so creating products for retail seemed like a natural progression. McKenna Layne, a design company that gets its name from Melissa's favorite girl's name (she has three boys!), opened in February of 2009.

One of Melissa's current bestsellers is her Halloween Playdate Invites, and it happens to be one of my favorites:

How much fun would it be to plan your own little neighborhood or preschool costume parade and hand out chocolate bars with custom wrappers? Fun, right? It's a good thing McKenna Layne Designs has chocolate wrappers!

I'm loving this wrapper design for an adults' party:

Melissa has a variety of fun Halloween party designs:

I don't know too many girls who send out Thanksgiving cards, but I do know quite a few who send out Christmas photo cards! Once again, Melissa's shop offers a great list of choices, both digital and printed!

I was personally impressed with Melissa's work when it comes to birthday party invites. After choosing a design for Natalie's December party (The Cinderella Photo Birthday Invite), Melissa promptly emailed me a proof and made a slight change for me with no questions asked. My package of invites arrived in the mail in a surprisingly short amount of time. The paper quality is fantastic, the colors printed well, and Natalie was thrilled (!) to see her own picture on the "inbatations." I'm excited to send them out and will be keeping one or two to save, for sure!

Not into Cinderella? That's okay...McKenna Layne Designs offers dozens of other choices. Here are just a few that I thought were cute!

I hope you'll visit Melissa's shop and take a peek at her work: bridal shower and baby shower invites, luggage tags, cupcake wrappers...you name it, she's got it. If it she doesn't "got it," she can make it! Melissa welcomes  custom orders and loves a challenge. Most orders are shipped within 24 hours, but with Christmas cards, orders may take around 48 hours to ship.

Melissa's best tips for Christmas card photos?

Don't crop your pictures when submitting them! Larger photos make for better resolution. Be creative with your photos, and remember that a photo tells the story of your family. If your family is serious, aim for a serious photograph. If you live with a bunch of clowns, go for something silly! Have fun with it.

And now, for the big moment...

  1. I love the Christmas Tree Holiday greeting card! I love Christmas tress and those swirls are so cute. I would definitly use the giftcard to get some photo Christmas cards made up. We love sending those. I can't say that I'd definitly go with my favorite though. It would all depend on the photo that we're able to get.

  2. Congratulations on your new sponsor, Amanda!

I looked at the McKenna Lane website, and I must say I'm impressed at all the different products! I think my favorite item is the luggage tag--they're very affordable, and so cute! I also like the fact that you simply buy the digital file of your card or invitation so that you can print it yourself. I'm always a little amazed at how much paper products cost, but getting the digital file would allow you to print at home on affordable paper if need be. I think that's a great option, and I'm impressed that they offer that service.

    Thanks for the giveaway!
