Confessions of a Pinterest Addict

Hello, my name is Amanda, and I am a Pinterest addict. A Pinhead, if you will.

This is how bad it is...I started to write this post, and got distracted by something shiny on Pinterest for 20 minutes. I never meant for this new hobby to get out of hand, really. But I can't help myself!

When I first read about Pinterest months ago, I thought it sounded interesting, but I didn't really see how it could be helpful to me as a blogger. I also didn't want a whole new avenue of social media to keep up with. Twitter and Facebook for networking would be enough, thankyouverymuch. I forgot about my stagnant account for some time until I saw all the buzz around the blogosphere and decided to give it another shot.

Oh. my. word.

I don't know if you've jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon yet or not, but I've discovered it's actually a really fabulous way to categorize all the eye candy I come across online. I love being able to "Pin" pictures of great recipes, crafts, room makeovers, outfits, funny quotes, etc.

Pinterest saves the links from which I find my inspiration, and I can categorize them on my own bulletin boards. I've got boards for Photography Tips, Recipes, Crafts, Rooms, Style, Quotes, Kids' Activities, and more.

Here are just a few fun things I've found on Pinterest:

So, someone, please tell me I am not alone in my addiction. Can we start a support group? I'm afraid I might try to Pin one of my kids because they are so cute. If I don't show up to the first meeting you can find me on my Pinterest page.

Because the first step is admitting you have a problem, right? Right?!

*Pinterest did not sponsor this post. But I think they should pay for my therapy since I clearly have an obsession.

  1. I just started last week because I was afraid of becoming too addicted! My plan is to use it to organize my house decorating ideas by rooms along with recipes etc... Love it!

(Its currently on vaycay mode so I can catch up) :-) Have fun pinning my friend!

  4. ME TOO!!!! There are so many great things on there and I love how I can categorize things that I like. The best part is that I was always saying.. I saw the best tutorial for a cute lamp shade but can't remember where! Now, I just pin it and I can always find it. I think it is an essential place to be! At least thats how I'm gonna justify it! :)

  5. Amanda,

I am so with you on Pinterest. I love that place! I actually I have to set myself a timer so I don't get sucked in for too long. However, most times I ignore the timer as I can't tear my eyes away :) I now follow you on pinterest :)

  11. Pinterest really is awesome, isn't it? And I love it more now than ever. I started using it last September and it was pretty sparse. It has a network effect, the more people are on it, the better it gets. =)

  12. Okay, okay. . . you got me. Can you invite me?

I'd been blissfully ignoring Pinterest, but now I'm really wanting to try it.

So if you'll give me an invite (whatever that entails), I'll join you. Maybe we could get a deal on group therapy.

  32. L-O-V-E that hairstyle! You should try it out and take pics so that we can all see it! With that being said, Pinterest is way too addicting for its own good. I'm sure millions of women have lost countless hours of time on that website!

  33. Once you ask for an invite how long does it take for them to get back to you? I put my e mail in and click and nothing seems to happen

  36. I too am a pinterest addict! I think I do more pinning than browsing, though. Before pinterest, I saved all those cute projects I liked to a folder on my desktop. But, of course I didn't always give myself a linkback to the site where the project was located. So...then I would want to find it and wouldn't be able to. Now, thanks to Pinterest, all my favorite projects are organized and easy to find! I love it! I only wish I had invented it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yep, I'm a huge "Pinhead" too! :)

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
