How to Store and Display American Girl Doll Clothes

After I posted about Natalie's American Girl Store Bistro Birthday Party and 28 Toy Storage and Organization Ideas last week, I thought I'd continue with the Home Organizing trend and share a fun tip on how we display some of the girls' American Girl doll clothes. I love this solution because it's simple, affordable, and easy to remove! This is our American Girl Clothesline Display:

All you need to put this together:

I prefer to use these particular hooks with the metal parts because the string stays put and doesn't slide off any plastic. And I love that the hooks are easily removable. I can take 'em down and hang 'em back up somewhere else if we get tired of the placement.

The rest was as simple as hanging Natalie and Michaela Byrd's doll clothes on the line. The nicest outfits (American Girl "historic" gowns, cute dresses, and costumes) were hung with doll clothes hangers. The remainder of the clothes (skirts, sweaters, pants, tights, socks, etc.) were refolded and stored in the doll trunk the girls already had.

I love the beautiful doll armoires I've seen in stores, but those take up space...and we just don't have that space right now. So, this was a great solution for us.

If you're new here, then you may want to check out this post about easy doll and toy accessory storage. I'm slowly putting together a doll play area for the girls...and trying to keep things put together at the same time. Having a dedicated spot for their nicest doll outfits is helpful. Now I don't have to worry about stepping on stuff in the dark and grinding velcro into the carpet!

And the dolls seem ready to celebrate {wink}.

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
