1. Highlight of my week:
We had the "Ma-lympics" today at our second MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting. This is a meeting where all the tables of moms compete against each other for a prize doing things like "The Sock Relay," where you have to race another team to see who can match the most pairs of socks. There were extra points for team Spirit, and of course my table won those points. Hello?! We were the only group to incorporate feather boas, pom poms, ribbons in our hair, a stunt, and tumbling. We're kind of a big deal. I know it was major for some of the shy moms to step outside of their shells, but we all had so much fun laughing and competing while our kids played in the church's nursery. A good morning!
2. Favorite thing I made this week:
I made Halloween hairbows for the girls, and I love how they turned out. You have to wait until DIY Day to see what they look like, but here's a sneak peak:
3. Plans for this weekend:
I want to make some iced, pumpkin shaped cookies with the girls tonight and watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. I haven't told them yet, otherwise Natalie will ask me about it all day long. The major weekend event is occurring on Saturday night. My friend L and I will eat dinner at P.F. Chang's with some other girls, and then some of us are going to Richmond to see....
So You Think You Can Dance?...LIVE! Words cannot even express how excited I am for this. So looking forward to seeing some talented dancers. The only thing that would make it better would be if they performed with Ellen like they did in this hilarious (!) segment that I saw on another blog.
4. Most annoying thing my kids did this week?
Natalie and Michaela Byrd locked me out of the house on Wednesday morning when I went out to the car to put the diaper bag in. I still had curlers in my hair. And my neighbor made fun of me. Thankfully the new owner of the house next door said, "I'm not saying anything!" Smart man. I could hear the girls giggling on the other side of the door. I was not a happy mom at that point.
5. Favorite thing I bought this week?
Found a seriously cute sweater at Wal-Mart (???!!!) for only $14. I know. I was shocked. I still can't believe it. Somebody pinch me.
6. Best of the Blogs this week:
~Susie's Robots & Boobies post at Bienvenue
~A tour of the Fisherman's Wharf at Centsational Girl
~Folding Chairs, Before & After, over at High Heeled Foot in the Door
~My friend Menden's Snuggie post...because you have to love a blogger who can be silly.
~And one of my ultimatefavorite bloggers, Big Mama, for her quest for the perfect outfit for her daughter. I love this one because I can so see Natalie doing this in a few years.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! There will surely be a recap of the awesomeness that is the So You Think You Can Dance? show. Honestly, it could be complete crap and I wouldn't care...I am just so beyond excited to have a girls' night!
See you Monday!
I thoroughly enjoyed your post; thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI never leave the house without my keys in my hand or pocket. My mom says that, when I was about 3, I locked her out of the house. I came to the door and waved to her; I fed cookies to my baby sister. I don't know how Mom finally got back into the house, but I know I'm responsible for more than a few of her gray hairs!
I wish I was your neighbor...not so I could laugh at you in your curlers, but just because you seem to have so much fun, or at least funny moments, all the time.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a teen I locked myself out of the house in nothing but my bathrobe. I tried everything. Then the gas meter man happened to show up, and jimmied the lock in about 2 seconds. I was glad to be back in the house, but a little freaked out that it was not very secure, apparently, except to those who lived there!
Them locking you out of the house is reminiscent of when they locked themselves in the bathroom. haha.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh I love this post haha and I wis I was your neighbor. I'd let you in my house! So jealous you are going to SYTYCD. I almost tried out; I really wanted to. But then again embarassing myself on National TV didn't seem to be such a great idea! Have a BLAST lady!! xo
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your kids locked you out of the house! That's awful. Although, I best that was one of their top 5 moments of the week :).
ReplyDeleteHow did the cookies turn out? I will admit I laughed a little at your curler debacle. This week I got locked out of the house when I was babysitting my friend's 4 year old and 1 year old! The only other one in the house was my 3 year old! How responsible is that? I was making tutu costumes, and just stepped out on the front porch to spray some glitter on one and bam...I was locked out! I bet the neighborhood got a kick out of me shouting through the door "turn the little thingy on the door knob!" over and over again!
ReplyDeleteomg, sytycd! Awesome! I watch every week, so cool that you get to see them live!
