I bought skinny jeans last week.

I know, right?
I can't even remember the last time "skinny" and "Amanda" went in the same sentence, but fabulous new purple ruffled booties call for new jeans.
My standard, go-to bootcuts were covering those gorgeous booties, and they need a moment to shine on their own.
Hence, the skinny jean.
In a rare morning to myself (T's mom asked if the girls could play at her house...sucker), I embarked on an epic journey to find a decent pair of skinny jeans.
Surprisingly enough, the first pair I tried on at Old Navy came home with me. Old Navy's jeans usually annoy the crud out of me with their excessive stretchiness after only 5 minutes of wear, but I needed something cheap in case I changed my mind after debuting them.
I won't lie. I was a little bit scared to look in the mirror after I put them on.
They weren't awful.
Don't worry, I won't be pairing them with anything like this:
Heavens knows I don't need any more volume on top.
I was thinking more along the lines of this:
I think a longer cardigan or sweater can hide some flaws.
I'm not looking to flaunt anything except my fab shoes. I think I can be successful with the skinny jean.
Now I'm on to conquer leggings. I've worn some under a dress, but haven't ventured into the realm of pairing leggings with a longer top or cardigan. I sent a leggings question in to one of my favorite bloggers, Big Mama, and she offered some excellent options for "those of us who haven't used our Shred DVDs yet." Check out her response if you have a chance.
What about you?
{Have you conquered any of your Fashion Fears lately?}
No way! I've always wondered about skinny jeans & swore I'd never wear them. I think I might need to see a pic of you in your new jeans & cute booties to convince me to go get some. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you can pull skinny jeans off, good for you. I, for one, will not be trying out skinny jeans ... I'm top-heavy as it is and need a boot cut or flare jean to balance my figure out!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS to say hello!
I've been considering the skinny jeans, and heard that Old Navy had some at a reasonable price. I'm glad to know you like yours; it's worth checking out.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bootcut type of girl. I think they flatter every body type, but when a boot or shoe calls for being the center of attention, a different style is needed.

Way to go, hot mama! I actually tried skinny jeans when I was pregnant. I never would have except I got them for free. I'm kinda pear shaped, so I never would have thought to try them. I was surprised that they were actually kinda cute, especially while I was preggo since my huge belly made my legs looked slimmer!
ReplyDeleteYou're inspiring me to conquer my fear of skinny jeans!
ReplyDeleteI'm SKEEEEERED!
SHUT UP! You seriously did not get the EXACT same shoes I've been drooling over for a month!!!
ReplyDeleteThis freaky connection we have is weirding me out. And I am totally jealous of your FAB purple booties!!!

Hey, Amanda, I was thrilled to find that I've scored a SL at Home urn. Didn't even know it. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd how about your skinny jeans, good for you. I think you are on the right track with what to pair them with. As for leggings, I think my leggings days are over. I did that back in the mid-80's when I was a lot younger. And after doing a fashion trend once, it tends to make you want to skip it a 2nd time, LOL.
You are going to look darling in your skinny jeans! How lucky that you found them for cheap and without a lot of effort. I need jeans and have been dreading shopping for them.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised with Old Navy jeans as well. They normally don't fit me well, but a couple of weeks I went and came home with three pairs!
ReplyDeleteWow you are brave. I can't imagine my post pregnancy butt in a pair of those unless I was wearing a dress over them. But all that to say is if I had those sweet purple ruffle babies I might try them myself, paired with a really long, "cover my butt" shirt.
ReplyDeleteI must admit, I'm not a fan of the skinny jeans, but I too have been a little pouty about the boot leg jeans covering my favorite boots. I am afraid I have not conquered my fashion fear of skinny jeans...I just wore a skirt instead!
