Random Thoughts of a SUPERMOM

The blogger I'd like to introduce you to today is about as close to a Supermom as they come. I always look forward to the creative posts that come from her corner of the web.

Kelli, who writes the popular Random Thoughts of a SUPERMOM blog, balances life as a stay-at-home mom to three busy little boys with cooking, crafting, and sharing her world with her readers.

Kelli and I sat down for an interview this week (from our respective laptops in different states, of course) so that you guys can get to know her a little better!

Here's what we talked about:

1. When did you start blogging, and why did you decide to start a blog?
I started blogging in October of 2008. There were a few moms in my community who had started blogs, and after following them and finding some other really great blogs I decided I could do that too....or at least I could try! At the time, I was at home with three kiddos 4 and under, and the only time we really got out of the house was to take my oldest to preschool or to do a little shopping at Target. Blogging has become an amazing way to make friends, share my creativity and find great ideas!

2. Tell me about the title of your blog.
Random Thoughts of a SUPERMOM!

RandomThoughtsofaSUPERMOM
I chose that title mainly because the year I started my blog my boys were superheros for Halloween and I had a really cute picture of them in their {homemade} costumes!

3. How/when do you carve time out for crafting?
I mainly craft during naptime, but sometimes I do crafty stuff early in the morning after my two oldest are at school and my youngest is having some quality time watching his favorite tv shows. I also get some bigger projects done over the weekend when all three boys are outside spending time with their dad!

4. Do you have any advice for mom bloggers about achieving balance in life/work?
I mostly think that as long as you are having fun with blogging, then it shouldn't interfer with your life too much. The great thing about my blog is that I share about our everyday life too so really the only time it takes away from my family life is to edit picture and post them. I feel like even though blogging does take up some of my time, it makes me capture moments that I otherwise wouldn't have.

5. Which post are you most proud of?

I have two posts that I am most proud of. Rainbow Pudding Pops#1 is my Rainbow Pudding Pops post, because I feel like it inspired a lot of other people to make something fun with their kiddos!

#2 is my Entertainment Center turned Bench post, because I love the fact that I took a worn out piece of furniture and turned it into something beautiful!

6. Are there any bloggers that you admire or that you look to as a role model?
There are a ton of crafty blogs out there that really inspire me {Tatertots and Jello, Craftaholics Anonymous, The Girl Creative, Tip Junkie}, but I think my favorite bloggers are the ones that I really feel like I'm friends with.

7. When your family has time together, what are some special things you like to do/eat/read/watch?
I'm the mom of all boys which means most of our family together time happens outside! My boys love to run around in the yard, pretend in their clubhouse, and play almost every kind of sport.

I love to bake, so most of the time we have some kind of cookie or sweet treat in the cookie jar. We aren't really big movie watchers, but  my boys do love to watch a good cartoon. We have recently fallen in love with watching old cartoons {Inspector Gadget and Fragglerock} on Netflix!

8. What's the best thing about blogging and what is your favorite topic to write about?
I think the best part about blogging is the wonderful community of people who are so supportive! I love sharing ideas and getting great ideas from other bloggers whether it is crafts, recipes, or parenting advice.

    "It's a bird. . .it's a plane. . . it's. . ." Sorry. I couldn't resist. I used to love to watch Superman on TV, back in the olden days. :)

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
