A *Real* Labor Day

We've got some real labor scheduled today for Labor Day while T is working.

The girls have their work cut out for them in the Addition, and I have a lovely pile of clothes waiting to be ironed. At least I can save mine for naptime and watch a movie while I work!

Lest you think I'm all work and no play, we're meeting up with Mimi at the mall this morning for coffee, browsing, and maybe a foray into Costco. If Mimi and I haven't lost our minds by lunchtime, we'll take the girls for a quick lunch before heading home for naps.

Trying to savor this last week of "summer." Preschool orientation is tomorrow (!!) and Natalie's very first ballet class is Wednesday, but the week yawns before us. I think it's some sick form of torture to have preschool orientation and then make us wait until next week to start back!

{Hoping you're enjoying your Labor Day, whether you are laboring or not!}

  1. If it makes you feel any better at all, I'm pretty sure my nephew started preschool a couple weeks ago. Schools start so early around here; pretty much every school is in session by the time Labor Day rolls around. But we get so many snow days in the winter, if we didn't start in August, school probably wouldn't let out until July most years!!

  3. So fun! Can't beat the mall! :) My boys started school Aug. 17, so we have been in the swing of things for a while. Your toys that need to be put away, aren't NEAR as disasterous as my boys are! :) ten million legos and hotwheels and whatever else walks in from the front door (leaves, rocks, dead caterpillars...). Have a good day, Amanda!

  4. Well at least you’re breaking the day up a bit. I’ll be cleaning and organizing as well. :o)

Hope the preschool orientation goes well.

  5. The mall sounds FUN! I wish I could go...without my kids. We've got to catch up on homework and laundry today. FUN!

  6. Amanda, are both girls going to pre-school this year? Ballet class is gonna be so cute! Miss Mae took them when she was that age, and it was the funniest thing to watch, ever! With MOPS and ballet and pre-school, you're gonna have lots of fun this year!

  7. What IS it with preschools? Why do they start so late in the year? It just seems to me that it would make more sense for them to follow the calendar of area schools.

Will MB be doing any preschool this year, or is she still too little? My older boys just went two years, when they were 3 and 4 years old, but my youngest went to a church preschool two days a week when he was 2 1/2. That was so much fun for him and a really nice break for me; I remember just LOVING "Miss Laura," the teacher of the two-year-olds!

    Happy Laboring!

  8. The work never ends, does it? My boys have been sharing a room and using the other as a play room, and today they're switching back. What a can of worms!

  9. The mall should be fun! I hardly ever iron anymore...not fun. Is Costco even open today? Ours isn't! Hope it was a good day of labor!

  10. Ironing? What is that? haha

Tomorrow is the first day of school for us. My kids are out enjoying the day with their friends right now. I'm washing sheets and towels. I guess I think clean sheets and towels are an important thing for the first week of school. :)

  11. Ha ha! My fall decorating got side-tracked by some deep-down cleaning. I guess I'm honoring Labor Day. I hope to carve out some time later today to put out a few fall pretties! Hope you are having a great one!!!

  12. Oh goodness, girl, my form of ironing is a spray bottle with water in it. It usually does the trick! :) I have a little ache to hit the mall, but I'm going to steer clear. I'm thinking I should head to thrift stores or TJ Maxx to find some new clothing for fall. We'll see...

  13. I love to watch tv while I iron. I hope you have a good movie to enjoy.

I can't believe that preschool doesn't start until next week. That's really late. I'm sure that you and Natalie are both ready for it to begin.

    Have a good week!

  14. Oh, I hope you get some cutesie photos of the ballet class. I just love seeing little ballerinas. It reminds me of the horror that was me dancing as a child. Never had an rhythm. :)

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
