Spray Paint Mash-Up

If you've read my Ode to Spray Paint, you know I am a huge huge fan. The little cans of paint that used to freak my perfectionist tendencies out now rock my world with their transformative power.

I had hoped to share a new spray painting project with you today, but the weather in my area hasn't exactly been conducive to spray painting this week. It's either pouring down rain, or so hot and humid that you feel as if you're  walking around in some Amazonian jungle. As I currently have two small "monkeys" chattering around me and leaping on and off furniture, I'd feel right at home in the Amazon, I think. Except for the snakes. And the nature.

With no basement and no garage {insert violin music here}, the spray painting just wasn't gonna happen.

But if there's one thing I've learned from Glee over the past year (besides that I want Emma Pillsbury's wardrobe), it's that mashups are fun. So today, I'm going to share a little Spray Paint Mashup to show you a few things in the T home that have been revived with a little can of spray paint magic.

Exhibit A:

A simple wood framed chalkboard turned into a fun white-trimmed Menu:

Made-over Southern Living at Home piece:

Gold frames to black:

Birdie Houses:

Framed poster to framed memo board:

This is just a small sampling. You'd think after all the spray painting I've done, that I'd be unable to blog anymore due to the fumes I have probably inhaled while crafting. But I'm hooked!

If you haven't tried spray painting, hit the Salvation Army and pick up a cheap piece to try out. I bet you won't be disappointed!

  1. loved your mashup! These are great projects. I'm going to have to borrow you're menu slogan! My family of 4 has developed their own favorites and likes and it seems like someone is always disappointed these days with what's for dinner, while someone else is elated :-)

  6. I like mash-ups! And I just love these spray painted beauties. Your footed bowl may be my favorite. I remember when you posted about that. I was kicking myself because I had seen a similar piece at Goodwill just a few days before your post, and I didn't buy it. What was I thinking?? (Or maybe I just wasn't thinking!)

  7. I LOVE spray paint too!! But I have an aversion to getting the color I like the first time. Having said that, I am fixing to spray paint my patio furniture AGAIN! Painted it green in the spring and I have NEVER liked the color. SO yesterday I got the paint to spray it again! Black this time, which I will love, which is also what I wanted to spray it the first time and didn't. I do this ALL the time!

Thankfully, spray painting is a breeze, well, except for the fumes!

    Love your projects!

  11. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and checking out my baker's rack. About the cookbooks, I have about 3x that many. I just love reading them. My husband jokes that they are just there for decoration and to collect dust. We have this game where he takes one of them and put it on the cookbook holder and turns to a recipe that "You are not going to make". He will change the pages every couple of days till he is done with the pictures in that cookbook and he moves on to another cookbook.

Anyway, thanks again for stopping by.

  15. I love it! LOL I was drooling over a new can of spray paint at Walmart the other day...my husband asked me what I was planning to paint with it. I laughed and said..."honey I'll think of something." LOL He shook his head and grinned at me..."I'm sure you will, I am sure you will."

You are my kind of woman, Amanda!!!

  16. That's it I'm going on a spray paint buying spree this week! A few weeks ago I stood in front of the spray paint display at Hobby Lobby for almost a half hour trying to decide if I should venture into the spray paint world. I decided against it, but now I feel like I must! ;)

  17. I love these! My spraypainting skills need some help, but my brush-painting skills are so much worse! LOL Love the quick transformations!

  18. I love how you turned the gold frames into black ones, I have a couple I'm thinking of doing something similar too... why is it though, as quick + easy as spraying is I'm so lazy about getting around to it?!

  20. Great mashup (and nice GLEE reference!)! I learned the hard way my first time spray painting that even though the can says that spraying in a garage is okay, it's really NOT. Not unless you want a fine red dust all over your garage. And maybe your husband's car. You've done quite a few spray paint projects! I need to start looking at things for the spray-painting opportunities they are!

  21. I hardly ever spray painted until I started blogging. I was just spray painting last night! :) You've made some cute things and I'm sure you'll have more spray paint projects to share in the future.

  22. Goodness gracious, girl. You weren't kidding. Bummer about the no-garage, no-basement conundrum. Hope the weather gets better soon.

  24. Ooh, these are all great projects. I have a pedestal bowl that is very similar to that, maybe even exactly the same. I tried to paint it white and messed it all up. :( It's now in the basement on top of the dryer to hold misc junk.

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
