Giddy for New Moon

In 1998, I got sucked into the Titanic film craze along with every other girl in my high school. The music, the costumes, the enormous giant glittery diamond, and the Leo.

Oh, the Leo.

I had a Titanic movie poster, and I used to gaze adoringly at Leonardo DiCaprio's picture, wishing he'd pop off the wall and ask me to dance.

I'm clearly not in high school anymore, but that doesn't mean I can't have obsessive fantasies about movie stars and the fictional characters they play.

Enter the Twilight saga.
I've mentioned before how my friends (darn them!) got me hooked on the Twilight series written by Stephanie Meyers. Once you get over the fact that you are reading fluff geared to 14 year olds whose longest relationship lasted from homeroom to 5th period, you really get into the plot.

I didn't see the first film in the theatre, but my friend L told me that the room was a good mix of teens, their moms, and women our age. They were all (except for the losers "Team Jacob") crazy for this guy:
Robert Pattinson, Edward, or RPattz, as my friend Mom in High Heels calls him.

Who knew I'd grow up to have a thing for a dark, brooding, sexy vampire?

It's not that I don't love you anymore, Leo. It's just that Robert Pattinson plays a hot vampire with some kinds of superpowers.

It's not you; it's me.

If you are looking for me tomorrow night, I'll be standing in line outside the theatre with a million other giddy girls women, hoping to get the perfect view of Edward's first appearance on the screen.

I have been looking forward to meeting up with some girlfriends to see this for awhile. Girls' Nights Out are few and far between for me, so the countdown to 7 pm on Friday night is on!

Here's a trailer in case you've been living under a rock and haven't seen it:

It's Day #19 of 27 Days of Thankful. Click the link to find out what's going on here every day in November until Thanksgiving Day.

Today, I am thankful for any chance I can get to channel my inner teenager. (She's in there somewhere, telling me to go and do some sit-ups already)

{What are you thankful for today?}

  4. OMG, I'm jealous! We won't be getting NM for another week (grumbleStupidMilitaryTheatersgrumble). You'd better believe I'll be there. OF course the first movie was pretty much crap, but who cares? I got to stare at RPattz for an hour and a half (maybe more than once, but I'm not owning up to that).

  5. YES!! I will also be with some of my gal pals outside the theatre waiting for New Moon. I think it's awesome and you said it so nicely..."any time I get to channel my inner teenager". Hubby will be working, so my parents are taking the kids...Hubby said to me, "Thank God you are out of my jurisdiction." What, he doesn't want his fellow officers to see me with the mob! I'll be sporting my Team Jacob shirt...all the way!!

  6. I'm sorry...I just don't see it! But I still love you. And I'm not "team Jacob" necessarily, but he's definitely hotter! :)

I too love channeling my inner teenager...I hope you have so much fun!

I'll be by later to link up.

  7. I am officially jealous. Have fun with your girlfriends at the movie. I'll probably wait until it hits the dollar theater. I'm glad that you posted the trailer because I hadn't seen it.

  8. I really need to get on the Twilight fan bus. I don't know why, but I feel like when everyone loves something, I stay away from it. It happened with Harry Potter. I watched and loved the movies but wouldn't read the books. I saw part of Twilight but haven't read the books even though so many people have told me to.

I hope you have a great time with your girlfriends tomorrow!

  10. Can you believe I still haven't read the new moon series. I have part one lying around here for months now but I am hesitating to dig in. I now that once I start I will not be able to put it down, so I am waiting for a time when I will have less on my list of things-to-do (as if that ever comes).

  12. I was watching a Twilight DVD the other day (getting ready for new moon), and when I was watching the interviews the cast were talking about how "twilight moms" would say how they want to marry them etc....then it suddenly struck me....I am a mom and I love twilight...so does that make me a twilight mom too? I'm not sure if I feel happy being part of a bigger group, or feel kind of old?!? Did you know there is a site called http://www.twilightmoms.com/?

  13. [new moon spoiler alert]: quick question...when you all watched new moon, did the audience laugh at the corniness of jacob taking off his top to reveal his muscley body to wipe bella's head wound....did they also laugh at alice's vision of edward and bella running (frolicking) together?? I'm just curious?!
